The Flight in Koshava and Pavolche

As part of our participation in the Baba Residence program in August 2023, we set off to Northwestern Bulgaria with our project Flight – Portraits of Listening. The exhibition was shown in two villages – Koshava (Vidin region) and Pavolche (Vratsa region).

With the help of the locals in Koshava and the other residents, we cleared and used a large space in the village’s cultural centre, which used to be a nightclub. This space had not been used for years, and with Flight, we breathed new life into it. The opening was very delicious, thanks to a huge tray of “mekitsi” (fried dough), prepared by the local grandmothers. You can view photos from Koshava here.

In the beautiful village of Pavolche, we were also warmly welcomed. At the opening in the cultural centre, the women from the local choir pleasantly surprised us with a small concert. You can see more about Flight’s visit to Pavolche here.
